Well, yes I know that Trotsky based his ideas on the works of lenin, and that is why I find trotskyism to be a school of leninism. But then again, this is all very superficial and serves no practical purpose. We obviously agree on what trotskyism exactly is, we just emphasize on it's different historical qualities.

I find that colling oneself communist or trotskyist is about briefly describing one's oppinions. Clearly it demands that you know something about the things you describe yourself as, but beyond that it is a matter of self-perception.

But let's think clearly here and take my example. If I mostly fit the description of leninist, yet abjure the idea of progressive bourgeoisie, what would that make me? Not exactly trotskyite, and not exactly leninist.

Don't get me wrong, theory is indeed important for the reasons you stated, but I still agree with you, and I will not change this oppinion merely to "fit myself in". I believe it is dogmatism to follow some dogma, for the sake of following that dogma. Which I try to avoid, and instead rely on theories I believe are true.

And yes, even if I still agree with you on the matter of third world bourgeoisie, my other oppinions tend to be highly leninist.
