Chen Duxiu and the Trotskyists

err sorry I meant this guy. Chen Bilan basically demolished him though. She and Peng had much better criticisms of Chen Duxiu though.

To be honest, I haven't read enough about him. Peng Shuzi criticized him for, among other things, not supporting direct involvement in the war against Japan. Those small groups of Trotskyists that formed guerrilla units anyway, largely met death at the hands of the KMT or in CCP purges, but given how the Chinese Trotskyists fared after 1949, I think it would have been better if the CLO had taken up arms as a party and tried to play a role in the national struggle. I also heard that Chen Duxiu tried unsuccessfully to infiltrate the staff of a left-wing warlord which seems like a waste of time. And of course, he ended up becoming a liberal and decided to "combat damned Bolshevism to the very end" of his life. Is there a good book on the history of the Chinese Left Opposition?

Yah he is a comrade of a comrade. Don't know too much about him but he did manage to attend the gubinatorial debates in 2008.
