It may be "just as you see it", but you see it from a racist perspective.

I know several aboriginals, young and old, who are involved with the various Marxist-Leninist parties in this country, as well as generally living the struggle.

To say that natives "cannot embrace scientific socialism" ignores the fact that the overwhelming majority of whites and other races, also do not at this time identify with Scientific socialism. Misconceptions about Marxism have little to do with race.

Helen Michel, CPC-ML affiliate

These are just some of the aboriginals involved in far left politics that I have met persynally.

Now, the issue is not that aborignals are generally not Marxists; the issue is that most people in general are not Marxists.

As for your outlook, that some aboriginals may see Marxism as a "White ideology", well there are many black people who also put forward this viewpoint; does this mean that generally black people have not embraced Marxism? There are whites who see scientific socialism as a "Russian ideology", right?

I really seriously take issue with the way you phrased your reply to me, just the undertones of it. It reeks of the usual binary stereotyping of Canadian aboriginals, that they are either:
a.)Museum-piece traditionalists
b.)Hopeless drug addicts/criminals

Imagine, if you can, that there are aboriginals who simultaneously don't go to pow-wows, as well as rejecting alcohol and drugs.

Now, trying to follow and revive aboriginal traditions does not negate Marxism; reviving a distinct cultural identity (that european assimilation attempted to erase,) is not counter-productive to Marxism.

I seriously believe that you a have a score to settle with your old conscience.
