america is a bit of a mystery to me, so many contradictions, such a love of, and desire for, freedom and democracy, yet at the same time, seemingly so "politically backward" and tied to the american states imperialism.
never been there, met all sorts of "americans" in britain and once met a member of the american ruling class in majorca.
the latter proceeded to tell me how popular maggie thatcher was in britain and was most put out when i pointed out the majority of the british population had always voted against her and it was only the "first past the post" electoral system that gave her, her, parliamentary majorities.
any time you feel like giving me your personal insight into america and its peoples just go ahead. i value the observations and opinions of radical individuals like yourself far more than the "party liners" and radical newspapers.
the capitalist media only tells you the bits it wants you to know and so on so i tend to dismiss them out of hand anyway.
real people have real contributions to make imho.

start with the last question first! have seen at least three versions of that on ooh tube.
the "thing" that struck me on all of them, was how little the "pro war/support our troops" counter demonstrators had to actually say on the subject when faced with questions and universally "accepted facts" of the matter.
the anti war demonstrators tried to reason rather than chant slogans, you can see for yourself the gobsmacked reaction of the pro war element.
"no answer"? just repeat the shit you shouted before you had no answer.
