Inform just gave Mike Macnair's class framework. You should read his book.

I would have to hope so, to be honest...if RevLeft for some reason converted into one of those chavurot things, I hope that people might still think to consult me for advice every now and then

If somebody wishes to consider me a rabbi, then I am indeed a rabbi...

...unfortunately, however, nobody does Still, self-declared rabbi of RevLeft!

Well I'm no lover of Stalin, so I can certainly see how what you've said here might be true.

Well I just tend to very explicitly draw a line between myself and any kind of "utopian socialism" when it comes to political strategy. It's also partly why I don't completely reject Stalin. It's not that I don't recognise the wrong things he did, but I simply believe moral critique in itself is insufficient to reject Stalin completely.

I'm a supporter of both bio-diversity and cultural diversity for its own sake. I believe endangered cultures and languages should be protected.

Also, I disagree with the idea that there is a simplistic one-to-one relationship between base and superstructure. So I think it's completely possible to have an anarchist cultural superstructure on top of a Leninist base.

To put it somewhat banally, consider the fact that everyone needs some time off regularly. So let workers wear the Leninist uniform at work, and wear whatever they wish in their off-work leisure time.

I believe in Leninist politics because I am a strategic pragmatist, I don't believe pure anarchism is realistic politically.

Also, some degree of political centralisation would actually protect cultural rights, because the "state" can positively discriminate in favour of weaker cultures against stronger ones (I oppose social darwinism). If all cultures are simply "free" to "fend for themselves", who is to prevent stronger cultures dominating weaker ones?
