Yes, I understand that. It has more to do with keeping my cool so as to maintain something resembling professionalism. After all, if I am known as the loose cannon who always berates his ideological opponents than ultimately that can be counter-productive. That being said though you are indeed correct: reactionary opinions should be fought without shame.

Yeah, with me it is mixed how often I call them out on it because if I go by my spur of the moment words I come off as too harsh (essentially negating why I am there) yet if I do nothing than the cycle continues. No real good ending, just a degree of grey.

I know the feeling. A lot of youth humor I cannot stand. Whether or not they are actually racist is irrelevant. My rural hometown was mixed though: there were those reactionaries which were racist and homophobic while there were progressives as well albeit in different forms(which were sometimes the conservatives, with the liberals being the reactionaries). Whenever people start in about reactionary jokes I just tune out and find my way out of the room, stop hanging with them. I have better ways to spend my time.

A sea of liberals. I know some Leftists and pseudo-Leftists from activist groups I have been involved in but just in mt every day life it is mostly liberals and progressive liberals. It can be quite draining. Not much in the way of activity. A lot of the activism died down with teh death of occupy. There are the occasional event but mostly things are dead.
