There is no such "implicit belief" in what I wrote, because it ignores the likelihood that reducing an existing population causes its own social problems - and while that's a position I don't support it isn't even malthusianism anyways in the actual meaning of the term. The malthusian witch hunt is frankly irritating; crusade against concepts if you feel like it but don't stretch the concept and people's words to draw more people into the category you're choosing to go after.

Of course a family of fifteen living on 5000 dollars a year is worse off than a family of four living on 5000 dollars a year even though the fact that they are fifteen and not four did not cause their deprivation.

Malthusianism is a specific, obviously false thesis - its not a catch all term for the fairly banal observation that population size can affect economic conditions. So no, I never defended Malthusianism.
