    I have never heard of Goncharov, I'll have to check him out. I like Turgenev a lot. I am not a fan of Tolstoy though. Everyone gives me shit for it, but I just don't like his writing. I love "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich". Solzhenitsyn is awesome, even if his politics are shit as you have mentioned. If you are looking for new reads I highly recommend the early Soviet writings. Especially Zamyatin's "We", Olesha's "Envy" and of course "Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov. Erofeev has great poetry and is a crazy alcoholic which makes his writing funny and depressing at the same time.
