You know, I think Demand The Good Life has bit the dust, actually.

I'd say that's a good thing, but I'm starting to see more people start to peddle that same bullshit line as they did though.

Ahhh cool I used to do a helluva lot of reading here in the beginning back when I started lurking in 2010, should've joined then... I've been reading a lot of anarchist stuff lately though, still learn a lot from reading here, but I've gradually read less and read the posts of people I see as better posts, which is the majority of older posters here.

Mixed feelings. In my opinion, I think it's more of a case of "in spite of" than "due to", or, more accurately, than it's an unintended consequence. As for allowing players to interact imaginatively (modding, etc.), I still think it seems like a truncated field within which to imagine, that represents a certain necessity. To look for a comparison elsewhere, I'd go to fast food, where new menu items are routinely the creations of bored employees fucking around when making their lunches. Is there creativity? Absolutely! Does working at McDicks foster creativity? Seems like a stretch.

That said, I think your example speaks while to your own capacities, and the capacities of people generally (I hope) to be resilient in the face of capital's wholesale (retail?) attempts to reduce them to slavishly uninventive garbage disposal units.

To be fair, Tropico does rule, as does Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. Less than sold on the Microsoft interpretations.

Even the people who might look at us in hostility or with some bit of worry as to what our aims are, once those types see the good, the true freedom and equality we're bringing, the better world we're building, then i strongly feel those types will be won over on our side. Those are the types who will see the new society around them and decide to contribute. I recall reading how spanish anarchists wouldn't force anyone to join the commune but a land owner could only own as much land as he could work himself. Usually those owners joined the communes upon seeing how much better life was!

Hey comrade, happy belated birthday! I just realized It recently passed coming to your profile haha. I really came to tell you I enjoy your points made especially in the Humanism thread. There are a few of those types who think you need to use excessive force, but i like your defense that we only need to use violence when it's necessary and appropriate. I agree 100% especially me being an anarchist I don't want to oppress innocents. I feel violence would be necessary to defend our gains against the state (police especially) and counter-revolutionaries or fascists but not the local bakery owner, not the bourgeois family who might sympathize with some of our views but decide to stay neutral.
