Ah, interesting, thanks for your reply. So is your interest in Slavic languages and culture somehow connected to your interest in communism (because of Russia/USSR)?

As for me, I live in one of the countries of the ex-Yu (Croatia) and am still trying to wrap my head around why the SFRY fell and what caused the horrible nationalist-chauvinism that plagues this region to resurface so quickly. I'm also very interested in the idea of worker's self management that was implemented in the country, and why it didn't work (though almost all left-leaning people I know feel that the worker's had more rights then than they have now).

Hi. I was wondering, does your interest in the ex-Yugoslavia have to do something with your studies, or is it more like a hobby? Or are the reasons more personal (e.g. some of your family is from there)?
