Brilliant fucking line here. Weird how 99% of Marxists don't realize that materialism itself is a metaphysical position.. I've been saying that for some time now.

Dialectics seems that it is, at best, an unnecessary abstraction. The talk of "contradictions" is too often a substitute for facts and rational analysis. I would also agree that while most Marxists portray themselves as the dispassionate, objective judges of the world; the reality is that this is only upheld when it is advantageous to their agenda, otherwise they engage in the same "moralistic" behavior they so vehemently condemn.

It is not uncommon to see the absurd claim that Marxism "is a science" which amounts to a form of demagoguery to insulate themselves from criticism, while these same people are dismissive of actual science as it really exists today.

I think I finally get what Marx was talking about when he proclaimed that he wasn't a Marxist.

Marxism has produced the greatest theoretical successes, and the greatest practical failures.

It has survived and spread like no other political idea, while splintering and stalling like no other. It produces the most cogent analyses around, and the most arrant rubbish. It could be the best hope hope for the 21st century, and a strange relic from the 19th.

I want to find out what's gone wrong, and maybe even help fix it.
