Looks like I might be banned, the site in my username is dead but its full of pretty objectionable stuff. I never realised when I registered you can't change your username as you can with some other sites, and tbh I hardly expected to last this long anyway!
I seriously need to start reading again, tv has been the death of me, not even informative tv but light entertainment crap!

I guess its gotta be Apocalypse now, but full metal jacket came a close second. I used to read a lot of the little comics like commando and battle picture library or whatever they were called they had an influence on me too.

I'm in the opposite boat, my dad is from the highlands and my mum is from bristol (cue the potential worst bucolic accent ever! ) I was brought up in Edinburgh and I got a lot of crap for being English, I still do sometimes or at least I hear it even if its not directed at me. I'd imagine Scots people get shit down south as well which is sad.

I can fully understand the economic reasons for an independent Scotland, and possibly it being easier to create a socialist Scotland than a socialist UK, but I'm sometimes uncomfortable that independence is too tied to ideas of anti-Englishness (as opposed to anti-Westminsterness) and also the leftist movement up here is very much alligned with not only Irish Republicanism but the militant kind of which I am not a fan, and they don't like me very much either!

Cool. I would love to get involved with leftist organisations but I'm put off here because of the nationalistic tendency among most of them.

You want to play Katanga? It's a political simulator in which you can play anything from a politician to a military officer to a rebel leader.

We desperately need more people, so if you want to join we'd really appreciate it. You can find the thread in OI.

Its not much of a problem really, online, all is fine, but when i see one of those lurking in the corner of the couch or at the ceiling,i get nervous, but that is normal for arachnophobia.
Fortunately,i don't get much spiders in the flat,so its ok.
    Thanks for your concern.

About El Chuncho

Basic Information

Biography
Marxist-Leninist, though not a hardcore sectarian, grow up as a peasant, not a worker.
Location
England
Interests
History and science, Leftism and reading.
Political Statement
I am a Marxist-Leninist. I believe that whilst comrade Stalin had his faults, he acted for the good of the people and his faults are over-exaggerated by some of the left. I disagree with Trotsky, and find him naive on issues, but I do not especially hate him or Trotskyists. At the end of the day I would side with any leftist against a rightist. I am not a great sectarian thinking that Pan-Leftism is more helpful than bickering, and I am inspired by the non-Marxist pre-Marx and Mark-contemporaries such as William Morris, Winstanley and Bertrand Russell (despite his naiveties regarding Marxism-Leninism).

I also believe in 'Socialism in One Country', thinking that before you can liberate the world, you have to start in your home. I agree with the wars of national liberation throughout the world, including in Ireland (though the IRA seem somewhat dubious at the moment) and the Middle-Eastern countries, and then built your country up.

I believe that cultures are, in Stalin's words, "neither racial nor tribal, but a historically formed community of people". I think monocultural internationalism is impossible and unrealistic, preferring multicultural internationalism.

Though Marxist-Leninists are portrayed as humourless, I am not even above seeing humour in my own ideology.
