well, I thought that the first Saw film was OK. If I had to give it a rating, it'd probably be a 6/10. Saw 2 was a little less good, although I had fun seeing it in the theater, as I remember. Every Saw film since then got progressively worse, and Saw 5 is one of the worst films I've ever seen. Fuck that fucking movie.

I think that Saw is not very good compared to other modern horror films I can think of, but I think it'll ultimately be considered a modern classic, just because it personified a trend in horror films around that time, the torture-themed horror film. Like Hostel, Live Feed, The Devil's Rejects, Murder Set Pieces etc. Kind of like Scream, I think Scream blows and I hate it, but I recognize that it's a classic of it's era. There are many better horror films from the general era of Saw, though...MUCH better.
