Yeah, I'm in the ISO and as far as student/budget cut work, there are budget cut coalitions at UC Berkeley as well as in the Peralta community college district. I've been taking some classes at Laney and working with the group there.

The ISO in the east bay has regular meetings at Laney and UC Berkley and right now we are mostly working with our allies to build for the state-wide actions coming up.

While it seems like working class fight-back to the economic crisis has been slow to materialize in a lot of the country, the bay area in general has been crazy lately - at least it feels that way to me, I don't know if that's been your experience. From Oscar Grant to the Hotel strikes and UC Berkeley occupations, it really seems like there's a good chance to make some links between these different movements and really begin to rebuild worker and student movements that organize together along class lines.

Political Statement
If your heart really beats in unison with that of humanity, if like a true poet you have an ear for Life, then, gazing out upon this sea of sorrow whose tide sweeps up around you, face to face with these people dying of hunger, in the presence of these corpses piled up in these mines, and these mutilated bodies lying in heaps of barricades, in full view of this desperate battle which is being fought, amid the cries of pain from the conquered and the orgies of the victors, of heroism in conflict with cowardice, of noble determination face to face with contemptible cunning--you cannot remain neutral. You will come and take the side of the oppressed because you know that the beautiful, the sublime, the spirit of life itself are on the side of those who fight for light, for humanity, for justice. - Peter Kropotkin
