In the course of my research it became painfully obvious that society's responses to the subject were woefully inadequate in coping with the complexities of it and ultimately solving the problem. Paedophilia and other harmful sexual deviances are physiological, social and psychological issues and they have to be responded to as such. Punitive methods don't work.

Does that adequately answer your question? Perhaps if you'd framed your original question better we could have avoided the unnecessary hostilities.

It depends what you mean by interest? I don't have an exclusive interest in the subject, any more than I am interested in a whole range of topics. But, if you must know, I had personal experience with a paedophile when I was a child and he later went to prison. When that finally happened I decided I wanted to make a film about it, which I have done, which has screened at 23 festivals around the world and won a couple of awards. In the process of making that film I was required to do research, obviously, and as I did I was able to consolidate my political position on the subject...

Why?

In what sense is my interest "strange"? I have no more of an interest in the subject as any sexual psychologist or clinicians does. Do you consider that strange as well?
