Mao did good stuff but he was pretty brutal as well. Aren't there any gentle revolutionaries who aren't so paranoid?
Dedicate 100% to revolution? Mind boggling. I dedicate most of my time to school and the book I am trying (emphasis on trying) to write. Besides, at our age there isn't a lot of point in giving heaps to the revolution since we don't have jobs, etc.

That all seems correct, although I don't know heaps about Engels. Mao definitely comes bottom - I never thought particularly highly of him.

Yeah, i like Stalin too. I'm probably Marxist-Leninist though. But when it comes to the dimwits at my school who think that left and right wing refer to a chicken i just stick too 'I'm communist' to ease the stress on their tiny little brains. ;-)

Not to be argumentative, but how can we be sure? I mean, sometimes you can discern falsehood from truth, but where do we discern lies from legends? Besides, I think all dictators did some pretty atrocious things. But if Lenin was least atrocious, that is certainly a starting point.

I read somewhere that Stalin didn't kill nearly as many as the U.S. would have everyone believe. But I mean, commie propaganda, cappie propaganda, etc. Trotsky does seem to be a bit of a berk. What about Lenin?
