Yes, I would say that there is something about dialectical materialism that is inherently reactionary. This comes from it being a philosophical system that is imposed on reality as being true as opposed to fitting with reality. It is, in other words, non-scientific and divorced from material life.

It also doesn't help that many of the ideas amount to idealism (such as the unity and interpretation of opposites) which is counter to Marxism.

I'm always happy to answer questions.

It is hard to put the point more succinctly than in my original post. But the broad strokes are that the Hegelian notions that DM imports are part of a ruling class ideology that is implicitly idealist. These metaphysical concepts are what Marx was criticizing when he demanded that we look to material life instead of to ideas.

As for the ISO, they are Trotskyist, but reject parts of his thought and accept parts of Luxemburg's. They support the Russian Revolution and think that Trotsky should have led instead of Stalin. The rejection of the DWS theories is two-fold. First, it implies that the Soviet Union was more for workers than not, which is demonstrably not the case. Second, it implies that if a "socialist" nation invades another country (ie Finland) it makes that country a form of workers state. This contradicts the idea that the emancipation of the working class must be an act of the working class. They analyze the Soviet Union as being state capitalist.

    I hope this helps.

Agreed, but that is because the legacy of Leninism has to be considered as a tradition that exceeds Lenin's contributions. The notion that it is a kind of program to approach the particularities of the predicament Lenin faced has to be abandoned. As Lukacs argues, Leninism is the unmechanical practice of Dialectics, the practical implications of historical materialism on the level of Realpolitik. In this sense, there is no difference between Leninism and Marxism, it is Orthodox Marxism, if you will. Just calling yourself a Leninist doesn't mean anything, especially not at times when self-proclaimed Leninists uphold their arbitrary identity. If one wants to be a Leninist, they have to be a socialist in practice in the first place.

I've started to read Bordiga because Rafiq once argued that China (SU, etc.) had already undergone a bourgeois revolution. It was a completely new and also curious position to me but in the end I happened to agree - Bordiga provided the necessary fundament to understand "real socialism". Apart from that, I haven't read much by Bordiga, I don't even know what Organic Centralism is. I'm certainly not a Bordigist. Generally, I find it silly to identify with this or this sectarian movement that dogmatically discusses history with other silly tendencies. Today, when it comes to being a practical socialist, all those fancy labels don't mean shit. I consider myself a Marxist, and that's all I need.

You have to be careful if it's not a further revision of Marxism, with a right-wing critique towards it, because there are plenty of those. I will read into TPM-L to see if I will include them in the group's description.

You tell me. Am I a Maoist?
  8. Third Period M-Ls adhere to the Sixth Congress of the Comintern's line, i.e. the 1928-9 period of official policy of the CPSU. I'm not sure what the position on SIOC is in it, but supposedly it is a more Leninist form of M-Lism as it was the first conception of "Marxism-Leninism" before Marxism-Leninism just became Stalinism. I don't know a lot about it, but it seems people who generally dislike M-Ls have some affinity for the Third Period M-L era.

Agreed, although as Rafiq says the material conditions are pretty different from XX century. So the strategy would need to be quite different. There is not much mobilzation in unions and workplaces, for example, because of decentralization of factories, and as the anarchists in my nation shows, direct action is very popular, albeit not too much effective. We need to update our tactics and generate new discussions.

I agree about the Fifth International, but what would be the point? We need first to make some sort of [Con]Federations at national levels, with all real communists, only then can we proceed forward. Otherwise we will have another 4th International with the wrong number. And the though thing would be cleansing the bourgeois ideologues. What is a bourgeois ideologue? Are Sparts BI for example? Morenists, Bernieists and most ML's I doubt too many will disagree, but and what then?

What do you mean by Third Period M-Ls? I'm quite ignorant in the history of M-L.

Well, I have been stalking Bordigists too recently! I'm very interested in their theory, but apparently "Bourgeois Romantic Revolutionaries" is nowhere to be found in Bordiga's works. Some Bordigists in a LibCom said that one of the Bordigists wrote that later on.

Exactly my problem with Bordigism too (AND the Fascism=Democracy AND "Fuck elections and unions" (Because they can be useful, trust me)). Organic Centralism resulted in the death of Bordigism. Just google for Devrim's opinion on one of those parties, in LibCom. It is totally bureaucratic and disfunctional... and does not allow advances in theory, which are greatly needed today. We need a new Lenin, a new Imperialism...
