Montreal is the center of big buisness and technology, while Quebec city is the administrative center of the province. In other words, Quebec city is a province of bureaucrats. Its one of the reason why we dont have much english speaking folks around here.

Oh and that sucks about losing work. It makes everything else much more difficult, especially if one is in an isolated area with few options.
