I was just reading over one of your posts, comrade, about the GPCR, and you said that: They [pro-market reforms] were led by a man called "Deng" A word of advice - in Chinese, it is customary to put someone's family name first when their name is being used in an academic context. So, for "Deng Xiao-Ping", "Deng" is actually the family name - that's why Deng Xiao-Ping's son is called Deng Pufang, and one of Mao Zedong's sons is called Mao Anqing. It would be slightly awkward, however, to say something like "they were led by a man called Xiao-Ping" so in the future, to avoid confusion, it is best just to use the full name, i.e. both the family and personal name, like so: "They were led by a man called Deng Xiao-Ping"
