Hi, I've recently been assigned a project based off "change we want to see/cause in the world," and I was obviously going to use the overthrow of capitalism as mine.

I was wondering if you minded me using your graphics for some examples

Not in the sense of having read Bukharin or subscribing to that kind of politics.

To be explicit, here's the intro to my blog entry:

A post-capitalist political economy using labor credits

To clarify and simplify, the labor credits system is like a cash-only economy that only works for *services* (labor), while the world of material implements, resources, and products is open-access and non-abstractable. (No financial valuations.) Given the world's current capacity for an abundance of productivity for the most essential items, there should be no doubt about producing a ready surplus of anything that's important, to satisfy every single person's basic humane needs.

Hmmmm, I'm surprised to hear you say that you 'downloaded' the spreadsheet since it only exists as pixels on the graphic itself.

Anyone can just set up the columns on a blank spreadsheet as seen from the column headers across the top -- anything further than that, though, requires a proletarian revolution so that the world's productive assets and resources can be fully collectivized.

Hey, so I recently came across your "Communist supply & demand model" or something like that. I downloaded the spreadsheet, but i'm having trouble understanding it. Where can I learn more about it?

labor credits framework for 'communist supply & demand'

    Hey....

Sounds like a decent-enough idea, though I definitely wouldn't be into anything involving *mathematical equations*, since they would be superfluous to the necessary functioning of a viable post-capitalist framework.

As you probably know from the threads, I have a 'labor credits' approach that, at most, would require a simple computational *sorting* algorithm, and that's it. (And regular wiki-edit-type pages on websites for workers' collaboration at each respective collectivized workplace.)

I'll actually go further and advise you that academic-type socialist economics calculation projects are a dead-end, since such approaches never include any consideration of 'use values' in the model constructed.

Regarding the underlying *theoretical* basis, I would use the following as a premise:

    Hello, comrade.

Since I know you think and know a lot about production and distribution, and the nature of commodities, I was wondering whether you were willing to collaborate with me to work on a simulation of both capitalist and socialist production. I know, it is an overly ambitious project, but I think such a simulation could be very beneficial for us. It can teach both ourselves and our audience a lot about the necessity of socialism, if we do it right.

I have already been working on mathematical equations for the computational framework. I can do all the programming. But on a theoretical level, from a Marxist point of view, I find myself lacking. I was wondering whether you could help me out, since I am unable to do it alone.

[1] The sun shines down at just the right intensity -- neither too little or too much -- to force an intricate interplay of organic materials animated by the sun's energy. The living processes build up to higher levels of nestedness, interdependence, and complexity. The abundance of available food and source materials -- varying depending on location and era -- allows each organism ample time outside of securing necessities to become increasingly aware and conscious of greater depths of complexity in the external (and internal) world(s). Greater consciousness yields greater abilities and at some point humanity began to procure more food than it could consume in realtime. This development gave rise to a separation of roles in society whereby some could spend more time increasing their awareness while others worked to produce the food for all of society. Those relieved of having to work rationalized themselves as somehow different and better than all other people, and explained their privilege by inventing fictional supernatural beings, or a single supernatural being, who conveniently backed up their reasoning. They consolidated their privileged social position with the use of violent physical force, which the fictional supernatural beings or being said was okay. Meanwhile the rest of humanity has either been working or trying to enjoy their more-or-less similar physical existence as everyone else. Much time and effort, though, is unrecoverably lost due to the existence of those in privileged positions.

[2] I am personally *not* in a privileged position.

[3] Therefore it is in my own best personal interest to co-produce a social world that is relieved of the class division.

[4] Therefore I am a Marxist and active at RevLeft.com.
