Wow. The monkey had its eyes sewn shut? That's horrible.

My avatar is one Carlo Tresca, an Italian anarchist, labor organizer/activist, and newspaper editor. He came to the US to escape a prison term in Italy, and helped organize and instill radical ideals in workers in the US with the IWW. He was an outspoken opponent of the US government, fascists, Bolsheviks, and the Mafia. He was murdered in 1943, in a suspected Mafia hit.

The man who supposedly killed him was never prosecuted, incidentally.

I chose him as my avatar because he is a lesser known anarchists, but his life was still interesting, and it brings to mind all of the dedicated activists who never became famous, but who led interesting and courageous lives.
