So I've noticed! And I'm the exact opposite with my brief posts.

At the moment, only few individuals have the capacity to work on this. It won't be a surprise if the great majority of the present Left will be excluded from this revived Communist movement, simply because they have been our enemies all the time.

Today, it's totally meaningless to refer to oneself as a Communist, any idiot who is full of shit can do this. Why is that? To cut a long story short, Marxism lost its radical nature: Due to various ideological/intellectual developments, Marxist theory became susceptible to crass misinterpretations and vulgarizations. That is to say - in simplified terms -, it is largely understood superficially but not "spiritually". This is basically why you have long-time Marxists maundering on about economic processes in difficult language who - at the same time - argue that humanity is still not "ready" for Communism, yet. What is lacking is a profound rediscovery of Marxism, a kind of "neo-Leninism", if you will, in relation to present intellectual controversies, including and especially those which are unique to our historical context.

I cannot disagree with your observation regarding the "Left's demographic". Being an active Facebook member myself, I regularly talk with and listen to self-proclaimed Communists on the internet, and I can only say that we would be fucking lost, if this was the radical Left that'll be our inevitable future. I think it's not even controversial to point out that the present radical Left finds itself in a deep ideological crisis - ironically, even those contemporary "radical Leftists" themselves consider this to be a fact. Anyway, just because they identify as Communists, one should not think of it as though they share the same practical inclination as genuine Communists, i.e. "They would be my comrades and appreciate my support, if it weren't for..." etc. The fact of the matter is that their reactionary politics aren't just incidental to their identity - in fact, it's the other way around, it is their identity, which exists at the expense of their reactionary positions.

I mentioned that thread specifically, because afterwards, I read the argument you had with location C on that "Mass Party Bernie" thread and it reminded a lot of what I just posted, which partly reflects on the dismissiveness and reaction of some leftists among other subjects.

Course mate, take your time. That's what I like about both you and Rafiq and what makes your posts worth checking out, they are never written "on a whim".
Darn I feel like I should've known that one, even if you've looked up Schindler as I did after seeing the movie, chances are Liam Neeson starts popping on your head.

    I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, I'm very busy at the moment and decided to eschew RevLeft for a little while. I still feel obliged to respond to the recent posts in the Sanders thread but haven't even begun to do so, yet. However, I will try to find the time to engage in your discussion.

It's Oskar Schindler. There is no meaning behind it or a "connection" of a sort, I just watched the movie right before I created this account.

"There were two 'Reigns of Terror', if we could but remember and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passions, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon a thousand persons, the other upon a hundred million; but our shudders are all for the "horrors of the... momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty and heartbreak? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief terror that we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror - that unspeakable bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves." Mark Twain

"And they feel no pain. The process is completely humane?
"Humane, Professor? That we judge the acceptable level of suffering by the human condition? Ask the beggar, Professor. Ask the orphan, ask the whore! Ask the starving, Professor! The weak, the sick, the filthy! Ask them to define your humane!" Oswald Mandus
"These men, Professor, these so-called men of vision! They would shackle the masses to a wheel and turn it until their backs break! All for that opiate, the lure of profit. These fools who lackey them, these priests, these officials, this... government. They make pigs of us all!" Oswald Mandus
