    review writes
The most important volume in restoring a balanced perspective on Morris's politics (alongside the Florence Boos editing of his socialist diaries that were published in History Workshop JournalWilliam Morris's Socialist Diary). Meier's important work stems from his study of William Morris's annotated copy of the french edition of Karl Marx'sCapital Volume One now in the Getty Library Collection at Wormsley (having been beautifully rebound by Cobden Sanderson at May Morris's suggestion). Should be reprinted as a matter of urgency for its seminal importance. It also charts the importance historically of the relationship with Belfort Bax and their intentions in publishing the journal Commonweal Political Writings: Contributions to "Justice" and "Commonweal", 1883-90 (William Morris Library).
