Organizing in Michigan

So, I've been back in Michigan for about a year now. I grew up here, but moved to Florida when I was 17 and stayed there for about 8 years. I got into revolutionary politics in Florida, where I noticed much more going on in terms of both the organization and action of revolutionary activity.

I have been very disappointed with the state of revolutionary sentiment and organization in Michigan. This is a state that has two cities that were exceptionally destroyed by the anti-worker campaigns of the past several decades. Water is being shut off to thousands of citizens in Detroit. Flint is pretty much a warzone. Why isn't Michigan the epicenter of revolutionary activity?

I moved to Lansing several months ago and have attempted to locate and assemble leftists in the area. Nothing. I've even been in contact with a regional Socialist Alternative coordinator (in Seattle ) who is responsible for organizing in the Midwest. She informed me that there were a mere handful of contacts throughout the state.

Obviously this is unsatisfactory. What can be done to build a solid base? There are hundreds of thousands of very angry, disillusioned victims of capitalist exploits in the state.

How do we go about uniting them (and each other)?

Greetings comrade. There is movement afoot to build the base, but it is slow going. Are you involved in any particular campaigns? Most of the activity is centered in Detroit but there are also comrades in the other areas you mention.

I'm not currently involved in any campaigns, aside from corresponding with organizers from out of state. There are lively protests once in awhile at the capitol, ranging from anti-war demonstrations to pro-Palestine rallies. However, there doesn't seem to be a solid organization involved in any of them. It makes me consider the possibility of starting one from scratch, but I don't really have the resources or know-how to orchestrate a thing.

My idea thus far has been getting in contact with established organizations in order to build a local branch in my area.
