I think we ought to discuss our aims with this group, it's purpose if you will, a bit. It is meant to be a private discussion club for members who acknowledge the importance of not only social, but also technological, progress. So far, we have agreed that this is meant to be:
A discussion group for all progressive comrades on RevLeft, CC-members or not, who firmly take the anthropocentric position against capitalism/the price system, religious superstition, bioconservatism in any of it's forms, neo-luddism, primitivism and any other attempts/tendencies to halt or regress development.

We are leftists of the variety that always puts the well being, pleasure and freedom of the human being in the center in a rational, socialistic, anthropocentric fashion and shuns technophobia as madness -- whether they otherwise be anarchists, marxists of any variety, or technocrats. A wish to combat reactionary forms of bioconservative or 'green' influence within the left is a uniting trait for the group though.

We are a group of comrades who recognise human progress, material abundance and technological development, but also a society dominated by a completely rational mindset, as essential requirements for the building of a truly equal, classless society. This means atheists only.

The group is not meant to be exclusively for transhumanists, even though a great part of the membership may end up being H+ -- after all, our goal is the total liberation of mankind from both material, biological and moralistic limitations. All the 'old crap', like one of my favorite authors used to call it, must go if mankind is to reach it's full potential!
Kind of a progressives only club.

This subforum has been put to our disposal as a private forum where only we may post, but remember that it is transparent for all registered members.

Also be careful with CC info and personal information in this forum, it is not part of the CC, we have regular members in the group, and all RL members are able to view it.

How do you comrades feel we should go a bout with admitting new members? Even though I'm the Chairman (LOL at the title) with the de facto, technical power of admitting members, I think we should go on more democratically about it.

So, I think we should either have a set of rules, or have votes for new members.

    Let's discuss these things here.

UPDATE: I have also now received mod powers over this forum, so all you non-mod members, please turn to me if you have problems/suggestions regarding it's moderation. Members with mod powers, feel free to use them here (in a sensible fashion)!

I think we should admit people who are curious, rather than just aye-sayers. That way is the best and most efficient way to build a supporter base. Also, we should'nt give a damn whether or not they are marxist-leninist, anarchist or syndicalist, as long as they are open for and curious about technological progress.

I vehemently agree with comrade Serpent. That is why Human Progress Group is a good name, it's broad and I'm sure most RevLefters would feel comfortable carrying it under their usernames.

I like the idea of an all inclusive group. I don't think I really know enough about the subject to call myself a technocrat or transhumanist, which is why I'm here to learn.

Despite initially -- by mistake -- being called 'H+Leftists', the group is open to all comrades who are generally pro-progress, regardless of what branch/tendency of leftism they identify themselves with or belong to. All of us who shun moralism and superstition in favor of rationality and knowledge.

So I'm sure you have come to the right place, Red October!

The only kind of types we don't want posting here are green anarchists or other 'greens', biocentrists, any kinds of bioconservatives or other closet primmies, religious nutjobs or other adults with imaginary friends, or neo-puritans.

Those we debate in the appropriate forums, this forum is for pro-progress debate.
