The Flag

    It does seem anarchist, which I personally don't mind, but since we decided to be non-tendency we should probably not use it. It is still one of my favorites though.

    The first one is good too, but that shows too little of what we are maybe. Black could be anarchists and fascists. Too unclear.

    This is the most practical I think.

    I would leave out the arms too. It is a nice idea but I does not work I think.
    I think it's quite clear when black flags and their use are directed at fascists, it's anti-fascistic. So that's not really a problem. The problem is indeed the multi-tendencies within the ranks. Most colour combinations have probably been used by fascists. Including the black right, red left:

    When people don't know who we are and they see some black flags with unknown symbols in it, they might not know what to think. But I just saw the Golden Dawn mainly uses Greece flags, not black ones.

    When people see red and black, most people will associate us with Anarchist and Communists, not with the NSB, so we don't have to worry about that.

    Aparently a double thick banner will cost 144.76€.

    I cannot afford...

    But we shouldn't be using banners at all. A flag will cost something like 45€, if you buy in bulk (10-15) this price may be 25-35€ per flag. Additionally, we need small flags, which may be even cheaper.
  5. TheRedAnarchist23
    I think we have reached consensus about the flag.

    We should change the group image to that flag, and post it in the flags folder of the list.

    I meant a flag, but it all sounds the same to my portuguese ears.

    I went to a site where you can order your custom flag, and it costed that much.

    Consensus? Have I missed something? This one: http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...psb7ef1bf7.jpg

    It's quite possible that a shop would charge 140€.

    Remember that those shops only make flags that are too big for use.
    They make them roughly in this size:

    But we need this size for practical use:

    So you need to go to a fabric shop and pick up some fabric yourself. Will probably cost less.

    For way less money we could make a lot of flags ourselves, with all the extra details we want in all sizes we want. We should make it ourselves if prices are that high. We can't waste any money. So we all agree it is going to be the one with red on top and black on bottom with the symbol in the middle?

    I have already made it our group symbol to test it.

    No you have not, we have achieved consensus about the flag issue. We are using the red top and black bottom.

    Remember that those shops only make flags that are too big for use.
    The standard size was 152x91cm. I don't know if that is too big or not.

    But we need this size for practical use:
    We can just use black flags for that. At least that is what everyone does in my country.

    So you need to go to a fabric shop and pick up some fabric yourself.
    Organisation of the column first, flags later.

    So we all agree it is going to be the one with red on top and black on bottom with the symbol in the middle?
    Yes.

    Here's my final position on the flag:
    The flag designed by … is nice but since we look for smaller flags I don't think it applies too well. In my opinion we should therefore adopt 2 flags.
    The flag we already have, and a plain purple one.

    Purple is a unique colour, rarely used politically, is distinctive, and pops. It is the third colour on the International Brigades flag.
    Fascism and right-wing authoritarianism is in its third period:
    first period: 1920s-1940s: Mussolini, Hitler, Franco.
    Second period: 1950s-2000s: Franco, Peron, Hussein, Pinochet
    These are all gone, fascism and RWA is out of power.
    2000s-present: the newly reincarnated fascism and RWA: Jobbik, Golden Dawn, EDL, etc. The third period. Purple represents the struggle against the new fascism and RWA which currently gaining momentum.

    With smaller flags, you mean the ones we are going to hit people with? I think they shoulb be as functional and cheap as possible, so one color is in that case the best. And purple is indeed one of the few unused colors.
    Red = Communism/Socialism
    Black = Anarchists/Fascists
    Green = Islamists
    Brown = Nazi's
    White = Pacifists
    Pink = Feminists
    Orange = Orange revolution in Ukraine/ Dutch monarchists/ Protestants in Ireland
    Blue = ?
    Yellow = ?
    Purple = ?

    The only ones that we have a connection with, from the unused colors, are yellow and purple. Of those two, I like purple the most.

    Note: Ofcourse I forgot alot of movements with the colors, but this are I think the most popular movements behind thise colors.

    The flag that's currently selected looks too similar to the Australian Aboriginal flag. A red flag with the symbol would probably work, along with black ones.
