I also think adding buzzwords like freedom, solidarity, democracy etc. is unprofessional.

How so Positivist? I am not following you on this. I think it is very descriptive, states our intentions, and that these are some of our core objectives that are reasons for the groups existence. It is vaguely Socialist in name but not inflammatory or too obviously Socialist. I am interested in hearing your position on this.

I agree with positivist, it sound childish. It is like liberals who always shout about freedom.

I just can't imagine taking an organization containing so many buzz words that seriously. It's not that it doesn't state our aims it's just that it doesn't sound very professional. Citig a source from the "International coalition for Freedom and Solidarity" would swiftly be disregarded as biased to some extent or another, whereas something more professional like the International Free Media Association really strikes of a professional organization. We don't sound reliable as the former. Simple as that. I don't mean to be offensive in anyway hat is just my position on such names.

Duly noted and no offense was taken. There seems to be a good bit of confusion between the news periodical titled "The Freedom Report" and the group to plan, discuss, and work on strategies for activism and other activities. I doubt the group would be cited and it has a different set of goals that it encompasses. These two are not one and the same. Nor are they one organization. They may work together and work hand and hand where propaganda is concerned but it is not a single entity at all.

It is important to distinguish the difference. A coalition(this is what we are due to our differences in political beliefs and tendencies) that seeks to achieve a unified(solidarity) effort at activism etc with the goal of achieving freedom is very descriptive of our group and purpose. This has little to do with the periodical that is being organized under the group as a individual project.

With that being said this doesn't negate any dislike for the name due to a personal affinity to mainstream usage of the terms. That can be for many reasons which are mostly personal but this is neither here nor there. This is why names of all kinds were proposed and then subjected to popular vote.

The problem with the 'media' name is that media is just one thing, out of many, that this group was started in order to address. Make note that it wasn't created by me but this is just stating its intended purpose and scope. So this name doesn't fully encompass 'getting out and getting active' in the community unless the media is a movie presentation or something of the sort. I feel it is important to consider the scope and to choose a name that covers this scope. In that way this name does not suffice.

I think this was important discussion. Things like this need to be brought up respectfully like this was here. This allows us to work together more effectively and helps to further define the issue. I am glad that this was brought to light and that we are now discussing the matter.

Very good points comrade. I have now reconsidered my previous position, yet I am still uncertain of throwing the word freedom in their. Though I really don't oppose the name at all at this point and wouldn't mind if it won, another idea popped into my head which I'm gonna try out. I'm think Activist Solidarity Network (ASN.) But your name would be good too.

I like that name too. It encompasses the general idea and sounds good. I may go and change my vote. I am glad our discussion has been fruitful and has provided us with more options and clarity. I think the vote needs a touch of organizing to narrow the options into appropriate names for the group and to add new suggestions that are not on the ballot. Perhaps we can help Comrades Unite on this?
