As any Black Metal fan knows the music is heavily dominated by NSBM (National Socialist Black Metal). While they often talk about good things like burning churches sometimes they also talk about fascism and antisemitism. Umm, burning churches isn't a good thing.
and I definitely wouldn't say that BM is dominated by NSBM. Most BM bands stay out of politics altogether, and then you have guys in the cascadian scene like WITTR who are environmentalists.

It's true that saying BM is dominated by NS bands is a significant exaggeration. But you can't really blame people, since the infamous church burnings and Euronymous' murder, as well as Nodtveit's and Faust's killings, it's been all to easy to associate BM with hate politics (also bearing in mind that NS bands do tend to get attention for notoriety). Though, I don't think the mainstream of BM actually goes into politics in any way. You know, the old stuff, Satan, moon and the frozne landscape, occultism and general misanthropy. Oh yeah, and the so called cascadian scene sucks. Hipster black metal, yuck.
