Local activism.

So what kind of activism have their comrades been up to in their respective CWI branches lately? Myself I quite recently got back from the netherlands, where I had the chance both to meet some of the comrades there and get some further insights in the political climate in the netehrlands particulary the Socialist Party. In a way both my fears and hopes were correct in regards to the SP. How did the sunday meeting go by the way Q?

Also tomorrow there will be a branch meeting here in Malmö and we will also attend the meeting of a community group fighting to keep their local healthcare center, which we have been involved with to some extent lately. The local people living there really has a very promising militancy, but there is always the overhanging risk of the struggle being co-opted by promises from the Social Democrats (who by the way are not taking part in the group).

So what have you guys been up to lately?

    It got cancelled...

I'm "all around" in activity, if I can afford the traveling. Next week I'm going to have a chat with a contact in my region. Also an AFA demo in the same week. Of course Israel is a hot topic. I try to push some comrades here and there in regarding to the action week on 21-26 June. And of course I keep the website up to date.

Well recently I wrote an article "why I joined the Socialist Party", for the Socialist, our paper and a few weeks ago we held a stall in a nearby town just after the election collecting signatures against cuts to public services, and to sell newspapers. I am also opening the discussions at the next branch meeting; the topic being on the Maoists struggle in India and Nepal. And hopefully, we're organising a meeting with the local trade union council so we can start to build up an anti-cuts campaign, backed by the community. I was designated the job of writing a short email to the local students' union and the newspaper too. However, it turns out the TUC think that a public meeting in conjunction with SPEW is not desirable because we're too "radical" and we might "scare people away". We could really do with their support as they are well-known in the area. But then again, do we really want their help if they're centre-left reformists, as their disagreement with us implies? Oh well. This is all whilst trying to revise for my GCSEs (reasonably important exams for 16-year-olds in the UK) by the way

Edit good news: the meeting is definitely happening, organisation full steam ahead, with the help of the TUC!
