Is there like a youth branch of the PSL? I'm turning 18 in 4 months but I'm curious as to whether there's a youth section of the party.

No, there is not. The ANSWER Coalition, of which the PSL active in, has a Youth & Student section. However, I don't think age is an impediment for getting in the party. I have been a member since I turned 18 and there's a decent amount of members my age. You should get in contact with your nearest branch.

Are you saying I could get in even if I'm 17, maybe .

I know of several other people in the party who are from the ages of 17-19, including myself and another person in my city. The party isn't about age, it's about struggle. If you are prepared to commit to building a revolutionary socialist party and to fight for the working class, you have the capacity to join. I would definitely get in touch with your nearest branch and they can talk to you about what party membership entails. No time is too soon to join.

One more question before I think about joining, would I have to pay for anything? Not that I'm unwilling, but that I'm unable as a unemployed 17 year old with parents who grounded me for being atheist and therefore wouldn't pay for membership in the party

Party members pay what they are able in party dues. I wasn't able to contribute much at first because I was unemployed as well. You give what you can when you can, but we understand that there are economic issues. It's not like we say "give $10 a month or you're out of the party." That would be ridiculous. I would just make sure your nearest branch that you work with realizes this and they can work with you.

We collect pledges instead of dues. Because to one person 5 dollars could be more of a sacrifice than 100 is to someone else.

About financial stuff. We do have to make small(and sometimes large)sacrifices. right now im down to scrounging change to put towards building the branch in my area with 3 other comrades.

as for youth. im on the youth and student committee of the national branch. but its not just youth.

and yeah, age isnt really a matter.

EDIT: i posted right after slip and didnt see his post. yeah, we have pledges but theres also a goal of a monthly contribution that is kind of like a due.

I actually like that we put all ages on the same level. I wouldn't join a party that split its members into ages

I turn 16 the 30th of september and I finish my candadicy around december. I would have been almost done with my candidacy if it wasn't for me loosing the membership booklet for a month or so. So I would say its fine to be what ever age you are.
