I wasn't told. Apparently somebody doesn't think I'm an anarchist.

Maybe its because you joined the (awesome) ex-anarchist group ?

Or maybe because my tendency was set to "Stalinist" for a while.

You have to also identify as an Anarchist to be a member of the Anarchist group. One of the criteria set when groups were started. And you said in a thread in CC iirc that you dont identify as such, and basically you dont identify as nothing(And no, it wasnt me the one kicked you btw)

I created this group because I felt an impending ban from the Anarchist group after you notified me that you had to be an anarchist to be there. It's not something that came unexpectedly.

I describe myself as an anarcho-Trotskyist. I have found many anarchist organizations to be very undemocratic, usually in the context being anti-vanguardist anti-authoritarian, while their practice was vanguardist and and authoritarian.

I agree with a lot of anarchist thought in its basic critique of the injustice and alienation we experience, but often the practice is very poor and/or kind of fundamentalist.

Do people know Jo Freeman's Tyranny of Structurelessness? It's a critique of a certain portion of the feminist movement, but applies well to anarchist and also loosey goosey leftism in general.

This is interesting, I've heard this from Dutch comrades before, but what experiences have you had which has led you to believe this of certain Anarchist organisations? Also, what is Anarcho-Trotskyism? When I was a Trotskyist, I remember leaning much more in favour of libertarian structures of organisation and begun calling myself a Libertarian Trotskyist, even though it is a misnoma as it is contradictory.

Quite specific ones -- my first real political experience was in an an anti-fascist group which ended up expelling all the members of a particular socialist group, basically for being organized and open about their perspectives and membership. I supported the expulsion at the time UNTIL I found out that many of "individual" anarchists had actually been part of the same collectives for years and years.

I ended up joining the FI a couple of years later.

I have continued to work on explicitly anarchist projects and been involved in anarchistish things since. I'm also a Marxist and have been involved simultaneously in explicitly Marxist groups. Maybe it's the mirror of Trots who immerse themselves in Social Democracy. I know who has the better parties.

    Also, what is Anarcho-Trotskyism?
I wouldn't say it's all that coherent. Action oriented as opposed to "party" building? Gut level hostility to bureaucracy and hierarchy? Respect for rules but not for rulers?

The theoretical stuff that opened me up to Marxism was Surrealism, Michael Lowy's writings on Walter Benjamin and Lukacs, Guy Debord, the crazy cool stuff. Which is all kind of anarchist...
