Liberalism and Anarchism, how are they related ?

There seem to be varying views on this. Some people seem to think Anarchism is itself a type of liberalism, a bourgeois ideology dressed up as socialism. I don't agree with that, I think Anarchism is a proletarian ideology (that doesn't fully understand the state, but thats another debate). But its clear that liberalism is rampant within the anarchist movement. Why do you think this is ?? Is it just because the idea of freedom from hierarchy appeals to the bourgeois idea of freedom ?

Also, how are we to combat their liberalism without offending their anarchism ? The two are so tightly bound; is it even possible ?

I'll be waiting for that back to the issue.

It seems to me it has only effected primarily North American Anarchism (US/Canada)

It seems Europe still has Class Struggle Anarchists. Here in North America it seems "Green/Primitivist Anarchism"/Chomsky/"Anarcho-Punk" are some of the biggest inclinations to grab people with anarchist rhetoric when they are clearly pushing Liberalism.

I wouldn't call the Anarchist movement as a whole rife with Liberalism, for instance
In the US we have all these shit book fairs/food not bombs/Critical Mass while a country like Spain has a Anarchist Union that has lasted for a long time. The IWW is a shell of its formerself

Is it just because the idea of freedom from hierarchy appeals to the bourgeois idea of freedom ?
I think if you leave class analysis out of Anarchism and rely mostly on hierarchy appeals mostly blamed on an abstract concepts of the state instead of class this tends to happen. Also alot of the rhetoric pushed around about Democracy and Freedom without knowing what it really means really boosts this.

If they can get Materialist analysis down and actually understand it the Liberalism will die.
