Idiots hijacking every thread on Technocracy

Even the one I just made on megastructures is being hijacked by anti-technocracy trolls. It's tiresome, but we need to resist this BS.

Isn't such blatant trolling supposed to warrant banning? These clowns just won't stop.

You would think so, but this is RevLeft. I think you have to outright threaten to kill someone to get banned.
  4. Tablo
Funny, it seems a lot of the time people get banned and restricted for minor things yet we have trolls all over.

To be honest I think it's the case that a lot of (my fellow) moderators and admins have a sympathy for what these people post. Obviously not a full agreement (otherwise I'd be out on my arse) but enough that we have to follow procedure as it is written. Meaning RED DAVE is going to here fore foreseeable future but Wolf Larson is well on his way to being kicked off the site.

I don't see where Red Dave has any credibility - all I've ever gotten from him are ad hominem attacks, straw men, and red herrings. I seriously have never gotten any kind of reasonable, well-thought out response from him, just insults. In fact, I think at one point he attempted to debate logically and posted a link to the Robber's Cave experiments, which I explained actually supported Technocracy. Then he just went back to ad hominem attacks .

Well guys Red Dave has started a new thread in the OI forum, spouting his usual shenanigans. Just an FYI if anyone who wants to jump in. Maybe if we show enough of a united front we can bring an end to this shit.

While we're on it, what happened to Wolf Larson? I haven't seen him in a while. He's usually right there with Red Dave on threads like this.

Wolf Larson is currently suspended. If he carries on the way he's going, he'll be banned.

What really pisses me off a bout the whole situation is that we could be having productive arguments about real issues with regards to technocracy. I don't want 100% agreement either, constructive criticism is best, rather than this near-constant misrepresentation.

When Red Dave talks about Technocracy, it's really all about his ego. He picked this fight, and by god, he's going to win at any cost. I've adopted a new policy - "ignore the idiots."

See, Red Dave is kinda... old. This means that he thinks he's already right about everything, and is going to show us young whippersnappers a thing or two about socialism. It's kinda sad really - not worth the effort. Sometimes as we get older, we become more receptive to new ideas as our existing concepts become less rigid (as we get closer to death). However, more often than not, we just cling to our existing concepts in the face of the unknown (death), because it gives us comfort. This is also the reason why older people tend to be more conservative.

As for Wolf Larson, I dunno, I think he has some kind of learning disability or something.

Fair enough, but I'm not going to turn down an avenue of questioning from anyone that has the potential to be interesting.

I've come across plenty of young people with similar personalities to RED DAVE. I think his issues are that he is too ideologically hidebound, too unwilling to admit his own shortcomings, and far too willing to assume bad faith on the part of others.

Basically he's stubborn as a post and thinks calling something non-revolutionary constitutes a valid argument.

Trolling is suspected, but I have the sneaking suspicion that guy genuinely has a bee in his bonnet about technocracy.
