Cruz Review Party Programs #1: CPGB-ML

The first in a continuing series. I'll start with my favorite party that I'd never join, the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist).

CPGB-ML's programme is short. I like that. The obligatory "crisis of capitalism and need for a revolutionary party" section at the beginning, a perpetual bete noire of mine is admirably constructed (Harpal Brar's legal training shows).

It also avoids the trap of putting current events at the forefront and predicting apocalypse right around the corner. Basically just a succint overview of Marxist-Leninist theory. Good work there.

Now here's where things get interesting: instead of a list of proposals for what the party would do if it somehow found itself in power, the CPGB-ML programme lists things that the party can and will do, in most cases is already doing, in the here and now. The party promises to (my paraphrases):

    1. Be guided by Marxism-Leninism
    2. Govern itself by democratic centralism
    3. Participate in the parliamentary sphere, but only to expose the reactionary nature of bourgeois parliamentarism.
    4. Inculcate the necessity of smashing the bourgeois state and establishing the dictatorship of the proletariat.
    5. Defend the October Revolution and the leadership of Lenin and Stalin.
    6. Wage a relentless struggle against social democracy, revisionism and Trotskyism.
    7. Take part in struggles of the working class through various organizations, including if necessary illegal measures.
    8. Oppose all imperialism, especially in the occupied six counties of Ireland.
    9. Fight against discrimination based on sex, race, religion or national origin.
    10. Oppose border controls and the scapegoating of immigrants, fight for the unity of all workers regardless of race.

I quite like this concept, although it could easily be seen as a shortcoming. Thoughts?

Why is the CPGB-ML your favourite party and not the "Kautsky Revivalists" who publish the Weekly Worker?

    Programmatically:

    Dude!

I'll start with my favorite party that I'd never join, the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist).
I appreciate the Stalinolatry as masterful IRL trolling (which IMHO is a valid revolutionary tactic) but I just couldn't bring myself to go along with it.

But if I were in Britain I'd give CPGB-PCC a look-see. So it doesn't meet the "never join" criterion.

Honestly after initial reservations I like these guys a lot. They are an interesting mix of gothonic stalinists, angry kids and immigrant workers. Also unlike other "Pan-Socialists" such as the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the Irish Republican Socialist Party they have a lot more clarity. However they seem to lack any real focus on "the white working class"....Red Action showed you can conbine militant anti-imperialism with such a focus.
