Council communism and the New Economy

As the financial system begins to deepen ever more in the Eurozone and the US as well, I've heard a lot about the idea of America actually "re-industrializing"--as wages in places like India and China have gone up, American corporations are getting the cold shoulder. That said, was it the New Economy itself which inhibited class consciousness for so many workers here in the US?

Will this re-industrialization bring more people to the forefront, since workers who are largely placed in the service economy, will be heading back to the factories and refineries? The service economy inherently lacked a "means of production" to own, since they were involved in selling and distribution.

    Any thoughts or ideas?
