I'll be voting new labour. Not because I think like some(see right-revisionists and trotskyite "entryists") that the brit labour party can be someday transformed into a vehicle of socialism(it can't and it won't) , but because they are the slightly lesser of two evils compared to the tories.

I wont be giving them the satisfaction of thinking that I agree with what they do, so I'll be spoiling my ballot paper.

I can't vote yet but if I could I'd go for the greens 'cause were I live in close between them and the conservatives and I'd much rather have a Green MP.

Basicly, a ballot paper is considered "spoiled" if there is anything on there other than a cross in one of the boxes. I intend to write "Direct Democracy" over mine.

Spoiled ballots ARE counted in the UK and not only is what was on them recorded, but copies are sent to all the candidates to check that the counters were correct to count them as spoiled. A lot of spoiled ballots are simply people who've tried to vote more than one candidate, or someting equaly silly, but some people do use it as a way to get a political message direct to the politicans. Considering that voting is seen as the "proof" that we live in a democracy, it can really rattle the politicans and convince them to tread carefully if they find that a lot of people have deliberatly spoiled thier ballot papers.
