I've only looked at the documents on the IV site. Clearly the situation is mixed.

    Thoughts from the SA comrades?

We got an /internal/ report on the World Congress just the other day. Given the fact that it is internal I'll refrain from posting it.

I can say a few things. It seems the overall impression our reporter got was positive. The Reports on Eco-socialism and on the world political were close to the analysis we have had in the recent period.
That said, the discussion on the Role and Tasks of the FI docuument showed some problems in the International. The dissolution of the LCR into the NPA without any way for comrades to stay linked to the FI and without any mechanism for working as a political collective is a problem for us. It has all the features of a short cut and does not seem to be paying off the way comrades might have thought it would. Our reporter did say that the majority of the delegates - with some nuances - still favor the building of revolutionary Leninist parties on a clear program -- even some who voted /for/ the problematic RaTFI document.
Our perspective is to fight inside our world movement for a party building perspective and for a Leninist/Trotskyist program.

I am worried about the next world congress though. According to the document the FI Majority wanted to invite "broader anti-capitalist" parties into the FIWC instead of solidly revolutionary socialist parties. I feel like we're turning into the IMT or something. Does this mean PRI from Mexico is going to show up? Or the left wing of the UK 'Labour' Party? I just think we have to put our foot down somewhere as an International and consult our revolutionary Transitional Program. I thought the report was pretty good and enlightening. Its always good to be reminded that you're in an international movement. I found the Greek reports that the National Secretary told me over the phone to be inspiring, but I just can't get over my dissapointment with the semi-entryist and popular front tactics that some of the FI seems to be advocating.

But doesn't that essentially makes you "entryists" in the FI though? I wish the Minority good luck with the internal struggle, but I am not sure this is a struggle you can win. As I find myself mostly in agreement with your criticism of the Majority I have to say, we're always open for regroupment though.

Eventually, as the class struggle develops the question of regroupment of revolutionaries will come up. It's not just a /national/ question for the US or & UK, etc, but an /international/ one. There are concrete political-ideological differences and differences in organizational style that need to be clarified and discussed. In the mean time the united front is a way we can work together.

True, but as you note the FI is quite heterogenous, sometimes even within it's own national sections, as I have personal experience of. But certainly a United Front would be a good way forward where feasable. But again the weaknesses of the Majoritys program do come up for us as well, when deiciding how to position ourselfes. In Brazil, for instance we are allied against the FI section. In France, certainly many parts of it.
