What happens to the revolution when the Castro brothers die? Will it be overthrown by a military coup, the CIA, a different revolution? Hopefully there is a plan of succession! Does anyone know?

I don't think Socialism is that bound to these individuals, what is a problem however is that a lot of people on Cuba support Castro but not Socialism. So that might cause some problems over time. But we'll see.

In my opinion Castro got so afraid of opposition he was hurting the revolution, it is a good thing Raul is in now. Hopefully the revolution will pick up speed.

Raul ain't got much time left either.

Hopefully, there are some people in Cuba who really do care about socialism and not just the Castros, and hopefully, those people will continue the revolution. Hopefully.

I agree, Raul will being going sooner rather then later.

And i do hope that cuba will have people who care about the the people and socialism. If those two things can be accomplished, then cuba will be a great nation!

I think there is 60-70% that socialism stay. But I think also that there is needed more work with cuban people to make for them communist propaganda. Cuban PCC itself can't make it, because people starts suspect dictature then. But this propaganda can make freely by foreigns in Cuba. When I was there, I always bear the red flag and nobody look me suspiciously.

I personally think Raul is laying down the foundation of a new Cuba. He understands that social libertarianism with slight economic reformation is the best path to go, plus this will inspire the Cuban youth to help their Comrades across the world and to show the true colors of Socialism; not the kind of Socialism that the American propaganda is showing to the youth of this "free" nation coercing them to be "patriots" and hate others for differences.

If Cubans understand the REAL difference between socialism and capitalism system and understand it than socialism will continue

The Cuban system is not dependent on Castro presently. The death of both brothers will certainly lead to a mass imperialistic campaign to restore property on the island, but it doesn't follow from such a campaign that property will indeed be restored of course.

I think that Randy Alonso will be one to watch. He is probably going to play a key role in the continuation of the revolution.

The plan on the Cuban end is to replace the Castros with a wider array of leaders... That power will be less concentrated as the older generation dies off.

This is the model of transition which the Vietnamese have used successfully, and which the Chinese have finally adopted, and which the Soviets also eventually adopted.

Remember, too, that before Fidel got sick, the imperialists were all saying that socialism would die with Fidel. Actually Fidel stepping down produced barely a ripple on the island.

That is undoubtedly partly to do with the policies which the Cuban communists have maintained of not allowing counterrevolutionary organizations a foothold. If the U.S. were allowed to freely distribute computers, cash, newspapers, etc., to people willing to sign on to the counterrevolution, it probably would not result in the overthrow of socialism, but it would result in a very disruptive, very costly, and eventually very violent confrontation between revolutionaries and counterrevolutionaries. I can well understand why the Cubans don't want that.
