Introducing myself...

Hi - I just became a member of this group.

Why? Because I am a hardcore materialist and
an analytical positivist in the tradition of
the great Bertrand Russell.

Most of the comrades (here on RevLeft as well
as IRL) take dialectics as granted, part of the
package, so to speak...

I strongly suspect that very few of them ever
read Hegel. Their 'knowledge' comes from secondary
sources, among them so distinguished people like
Engels, Lenin, Trotsky...

I never understood in the first place how it is
possible to merge materialism with an utterly
idealistic philosophy.

In fact, it is probably the case that a minority of comrades here at RevLeft are dialecticians -- certainly few of the anarchists are, and they form a large proportion of the membership. The dialectics group, for instance, has less than 30 members!

That group was set up because the dialecticians were sick of having their asses kicked by us anti-mystics in the Philosophy section (and elsewhere), so they limped off into their safe little cabal to intone prayers at one another. The anti-dialectics group was founded in order to counter some of the things they said -- since we are not allowed to join their esoteric coven.

However, they have done little other than discuss what they are going to discuss, so there has been precious little for us to comment upon!

By the way, what is IRL?

As to the anarchists: I am 100% sure you are right.
As to the rest: Well they all seem to talk the lingo - so I
must assume they are.

Because it's so obvious to them and an integral part of
Marxism/Leninism - they don't feel the need to gather in
a faction - since they are accepted as 'real' Marxist-Leninists...

Yes they claim to be (in our party that is) - yet the vast majority
has even read less than I have...(go figure...)
