This apparently ML organization seems to be growing a lot thanks to the political turmoil in Turkey, but besides their terrible confusing name (Party-Front?!) and great funerals, I know shit about them or how where they able to pull out this kind of stuff. So yeahh.
Also they seem to be the only communist guerrilla organization currently in the world that adopts the tactics of suicidal bombers, and have a great intelligence and internal security network.
Why would they do suicide bombings? It just lowers their numbers and kills civilians.
They look the part in them pictures. Are they around long?
Why would they do suicide bombings? It just lowers their numbers and kills civilians. Back when they were having a hard time on the 90s the suicide bombings where some of the ways they found to keep active. They look the part in them pictures. Are they around long? Their looks in those pictures automaticaly gave them the admiration of an astronomical number of impressinable young people, myself included. The DHKP-C has been around since the late 70s/early 80s, though 2013 was probably their best year ever. Quite honestly all my knowledge comes from the wiki post http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutionary_People's_Liberation_Party–Front, so I would to see something more consistent if possible.
I had a read of that link they are an interesting group I would also like to read more on them. The pictures of them remind me of the INLA use to do similar shows at funerals and commemorations here a few years back before they decommissioned. Some Republican groups still do it. Funeral of Johnny White - INLA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i32pDvCAosA INLA Volly Of Shots - 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aarM3KMI0Mg INLA members Seamus Grew and Roddy Carroll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuI5Ax4UdV0 Óglaigh na hÉireann Volley of Shots 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fExStk37YhA
Another similarity with some Irish Republican groups would be their actions against drug gangs. Actually the funeral pics I showed were from the funeral of an young DHKP-C member who died in a shootout on the poor Maltepe neighborhood, the same neighborhood where the funeral took place and where the DHKP-C act as a local militia. A video from what it seems to be the Turkish Glenn Beck show depicting a DHKP-C patrol in Maltepe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MjtH2StXq8
There is a nice few people on the street with them in that video, they must be popular enough in that area.
This is a more or less decent bourgeois reactionary academic work on them: http://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/...s_d/thesis.pdf Only from part 3 and so on this stuff is really interesting. Their way of organizing is similar to what Leninist organizations have traditionaly done, support the people's daily struggles be they students, workers, etc, from those years of practice they have arrived in conclusions similar to what the Shining Path had arrived in the 80s. That is first to use mass organizations in daily struggles specially among high school students and the urban poor to then advance on to the more complex field of university students and workers unions, fields usually dominated by reformist groups and from the most dedicated cadres amongst these daily practices create armed illegal groups. In that both organizations were able to create enormous support on cities like Lima and Instabul. Funnily enough since the DHKP-C had a guevarist focoist conception of rural guerrilla warfare they ended up completely failing in this field. I think those are important lessons to communists worldwide. There is a pattern here on why do certain groups seem to grown out of nowhere. We should not blame "material conditions" alone for this would be extremely mechanicist and reductionist. This is where the question of ML organization comes, and how it is excential to see proper practice and then know what role it is for theory and how to direct the fury of the masses into a revolutionary path. A certain recent split amongst MLM organizations in the US or the debacle of an hoxhaist party in the US once very famous in this site to a mere obscure academic society both come to my mind while saying this as cases where such practice is ignored.
Not that the DHKP-C is perfect, it does dumb things like upholding Atatürk and the aforemmentioned incompetence with the turkish peasantry. Besides more controversial things amongst MLs like supporting Assad, actually some say the pro-Assad Syrian Resistance group has connections to it. Besides some stuff that I as a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist see that is enough to make them non-revolutionary, they have definetly some redeeming qualities amongst the chaos that is the Marxist-Leninist left worldwide and make me view in it as better than say a purely parlamentarist group.
