Where's Everyone Gone?

I know I'm not the best about this with my random and indefinite hiatuses, but since this site is mostly being run around by 5-7 people, and I imagine most people are too serious to simply give up due to this one website, I'm curious what other sites the leftcoms have run off to. The obvious pick is Libcom but I haven't checked there either.

Revforum had some activity, but like the most active users there don't have much interesting to say imo. there's libcom, there's the facebook group communism101 (anti tank), uhh, i started using tumblr but it's not as left wing as i was hoping.

I fuck around on a few left facebook groups and some left subreddits, but both platforms are pretty dire places to try to have discussions. Revforum would be ok if people there could stop with the petty bickering in every thread regardless of the topic. I have an account at libcom but I've never posted there... some of their forums seem ok. And I still read this forum but there doesn't seem to be much point in posting anymore, since barely anybody's left.

I think it's worth noting that while activity has certainly declined, it's still worth fighting for this platform. Look at the user count, it's usually between 100 and 200; so while there may be as of now little discussion and even less active registered users, we still have hundreds of anonymous visitors reading both new and old threads.
I have to admit that I wouldn't be the person I am now without the learning process I went through here, I changed for the better.

It is quite worrying though, as all of you voiced, how some of what I see as the most insightful and thoughtful users in this forum have either vanished altogether or have little time in their hands to post here and can only do so sparingly. I think the problem is not so much lack of subjects to discuss but rather lack of people to talk about them. It's as if all of the sudden everyone in the forum had some heavy personal matters simultaneously.

the number of those users who are left communists is probably zero, if they're even human.

There might also be the temptation that once you "understand everything", it is time to "get serious" and "stop wasting time online", or hold discussion only with the real serious, like-minded in a closed, selective group (IRL, or still online). So then it can be asked what or where those groups are. For instance I was relatively late informed (just by accident) a couple of years ago about the existence of some facebook groups that are secret. Or, some groups, let's not be coy, namely the ICC, supposedly hold tons of debates, but they are circulated indoors only. This model of secret debate has been criticised, for how can the working class learn what the revolutionaries are talking about?

To counter this, I propose that people in those closed groups (on facebook) "spill the beans". Concretly, repost interesting leftcom/marxist discussions (without of course naming personal identity) from facebook into the public domain (like this forum). Do not be afraid to appear boring or unoriginal. If you find some interesting points/topics, just share it with the outside too, this doesn't take any effort.

To be honest though, simply reposting events seems entirely sectarian and generally non-contributional. Just look at Ckhatsu's threads

I'm not speaking of reposting events or the no less stultifying news commentary, but interesting points made in more timeless, if you will, theoretical, objective discussions/analyses from the Marxist/left-com viewpoint that you run across facebook in closed groups, ie things that are not viewable for people outside those closed groups. The closed nature of those groups or the unwillingness to repost discussions to the outside, is what is sectarian.

    I'm here. Well, kind of.

I got really, and I mean *really* fed up with the way the admin team handled things so I went awol. Not only because of that, actually. I've got some local-based comrades and shit is being done. By "shit" I mean an actual site in the form of a periodical publication and by "being done" I mean they're doing it and first no. is ready to go. I'm awol from my life as it were.

Most people did go awol in response to the administration, in addition to the types of people being attracted to the site, myself included.

It's not as bad now, but still quite so, in my opinion. Which publication is this? I wish I could find some people other than the SA around here :/

I can link you to the first (and only) translation of "about us". It's all in Serbo-Croatian since this is where we're all based at.

There are non-secret FB groups such as 'Communist Left' - https://www.facebook.com/groups/communistleft/

There's no reason that shouldn't be used for discussions - but FB ios a terrible place for such things in my opinion.
