I'm not hot on linguistics but a lot of the philosophy I read has its roots in Saussurean linguistics. What are your opinions on him? I understand that his work is a lot different to Chomsky's as well as what I guess we'd call 'analytical' linguistics (I'm only able to speak on this in philosophical terms, i.e. 'continental', 'analytical'). Do people here find his work to be refuted?
