Is anyone here a member of Socialist Alternative? Is it a good organisation to join? How big is it?

    Sentinel
The SA has several hundreds of members and is rapidly growing with new branches popping up, recently even in the deep south. They're running candidates for city council in three cities atm and are active in several campaigns on various issues at the moment.

I'm not sure if there is a branch in Connecticut, but I know there are several along the eastern seaboard. Boston especially is a major stronghold, and on Revleft there are members from there.

The newspaper is called Justice, and the homepage is http://www.socialistalternative.org/. If you are interested in an activity-focused organisation with a clear marxist programme, you should consider the SA.

One major advantage to the still a bit larger ISO, is that the SA is part of an International (the CWI) - with sections in over 45 countries, many of which are currently playing a crucial part in workers struggles. One example is the DSM in South Africa which is a major player in the very promising work to build a new workers party atm.

But aside from them the SA is one of the fastest growing sections, and all the comrades from there I've met have been pure awesomeness. I interviewed one of them on LGBT struggle in your country, when I met them at our summerschool in Belgium recently.

Another comrade I met at last years school didn't attend this time, but they told me he went alone down to Florida to study and has since built a branch there on his own initiative, initially all by himself! So yeah these are people who mean it. 1
