Let's make a list of the countless expressions of Ageism in our society, so we have something to refer to in discussions.
While I haven't had a chance to really dig in-depth with the articles and essays, I know the National Youth Rights Association of America, while a bit libertarian for my tastes, has a lot of interesting articles: http://www.youthrights.org/research/library/ A good read: http://www.youthrights.org/research/...and-oppressed/
Ah the NYRA, I have already heard about those guys. They are cool, but not quite radical leftists of course. Thanks for the links!
Here are some forms of ageism I can think of: -Access to contraceptives and abortion. -Adult supervision. -Age of consent. -Age restrictions on alcohol, tobacco, video games, movies and TV shows. -Censorship of the internet. -Childhood punishments, especially corporal punishment. -Compulsory education. -Curfews. -Minimum wage on young workers. -Not being allowed to make decisions on the basis that "children are incapable of making decisions". -Religious indoctrination.
