Maximalism? No, minimalism!

Impossibilism sometimes gets linked with or criticised as maximalist but I think its program is better described as minimalist.

No, this isn't right; and I think it kind of demonstrates that you don't have a full understanding of the concept.

A minimum program is a political program that results in the political dictatorship of the proletariat. The economic program of a minimum program is not socialist. The idea behind the minimum program is that it can remain revolutionary, while appealing to a broader mass of workers. The rationale is that once the dictatorship of the proletariat has been established, the workers will pursue socialism as their organic interest.

The maximum program, in comparison, advocates full abolition of private property and the creation of a gift economy from the get-go.

I am not stating which of the two approaches is better. That is for us as individuals to decide. I did not mean to sound hostile, if I have been interpreted that way either. The SPGB is definitely maximalist.

I will add that minimum programs are fairly rare. Most parties that consider such a thing are already well on their way to reformism or liberalism, but a minimum program doesn't necessarily mean that is the case.
