If you were the leader of the revolutionary forces in America shortly before the revolution, what tactics would you use to create the Socialist Republic of America? (riots, coup, terrorism, conventional war)

Before I try to answer your question I would Like to point out that no matter which tactic we would use, we would be called terrorist by the right. You can look at FARC for example who use convention warfare tactic , even going so far as to have a military structure(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Militar...of_the_FARC-EP). They are still called terrosit by the US and EU

FARC has tried a number of times to be called Belligeren by the US and EU which menas that it would be ssen as a rebel group instead of a terrorist group.

Organize flash mobs- creative ways to attract attention to certain causes and educate people, spread awareness, get people involved in mass movement- and use them as distractions while acts of vandalism/sabataur are carried out. Combining propaganda of the deed with the hastening of cultural hegemony. Also, flyers, pamphlets, and propaganda focusing on statistics in poor neighborhoods to encite the masses.

Precise, lethal attacks in quick succession of one another. Snipers, bombs and hacks. Then sieze control of the chaos that follows. Execute all high ranking opposition to establish authority. Introduce declaration of independence to justify the coup and gain legitimacy.

Terrorist tactics should be avoided at all costs. There is no need to harm innocent civilians. Organize into a revolutionary army to liberate areas, spreading propaganda and showing the masses who we are, what we believe, and that we will actually help them rather than the capitalists or bourgeois state. We should start with the most oppressed regions: the Appalachia region, coal mining and factory towns, and black, Latino, and Asian ghettos and slums. Hold teach-ins on all sorts of topics relevant to the revolution and to winning people over.

I'd agitate industrial strikes, mass urban protests, and suburban and rural seccessions.

wow what a crop of shit. you need the working class to form workers councils that creates its own image as the legitimate state. The congress would be powerless, and once the state soviets were formed starting at i'd assume large cities (detroit, LA, NY, Houston) the state armed forces would need to pledge allegiance to the new workers government.

Peaceful activism, with a focus on education. Tactical removal of oppressive symbols, minimizing or eliminating the need for casualties, but maintaining an armed defense in the event of the military being used against us.

I agree with the idea of this, but in Appalachia we might be wasting our time. Yes, they are definitely oppressed workers, but (not to generalize, but I am generalizing to a certain extent) many rural people are so inclined to follow the orders of the bourgeois establishment that they don't even vote in their own interests (ee.g., the rural poor opposing universal health care and the very welfare that many of them depend on to survive). I think that the revolution would have to be in full force before it will attract the majority of these workers. Ghettos, slums, and major cities in general are great starting points. Don't forget about college towns...usually liberal islands in rural conservative seas. Lots of PhDs and students ready for a fight.

Terrorism really has kind of a broad and vague meaning, doesn't it? What revolutionary activity wouldn't be condemned as terrorist? That being said, I do not advocate any tactic that would harm proletarian people or even petty-bourgeois people. Those who we need to "terrorize," if you'll pardon the expression, are those right up at the top. I think "innocent" is a bit too subjective to determine who is safe from the edge of the guillotine.

Train revolutionary probates in Guerrilla Warfare, first aid and muay thai hand to hand combat (only using the fighting style because of its stopping power) and paramilitary training. Seek allies from existing communist and socialist countries (Cuba, China, Venezuela, North Korea etc.) for the revolution. The youth in america are already sick of high tuition and unemployment among many other issues. All it needs is a kick. Spread propaganda through sub culture underground. Use guerrilla tactics to take small military facilities for armaments (armories, outposts etc.) Anonymous hackers could come in to play as well. Possibly hacking the mainframes of the CIA, FBI, ATF, etc. for intel and then we might be ready to start the communist revolution of the united states of america.

I think terrorism would be okay as long as it was against the bourgeois and them only.

Why not just establish a new state and simply pay no attention to Federal/State authorities? If a police officer uses force to try to arrest you, then they are breaking your laws and you may arrest THEM. Practice non-violence when possible, it is our strongest weapon. No victory is truly a victory if it comes at the comes at the cost of lives. However there is a time when non-violent revolution will no longer be possible and we will need to use different tactics. When this time comes we can't be afraid of being called terrorists. Terrorism is a word that was re-invented by the government to describe brown people blowing stuff up. It is a dirty word.

Try to start a grass roots organization like the Black Panthers to gain community support while have an underground cell train guerrillas and focus winning state by state so as not to spread ourselves not to thin. No use of cell phones or internet forums like this ,which could be traceable, only face to face meetings to organize and plan.
  16. Cosmonaut
Terrorism. No doubt. Plant bombs in the U.S. treasury, pentagon, and white house. As soon as that was done, the military would be in complete chaos. Easy victory!

Note, this was a work of fiction, NSA, I know you are spying on this. No need to get suspicious, I'm only 14, wtf am I going to do now?

I say first use non-violent means to try and launch your revolution. Use the Power of Free Speech, Free Press and the ballot to spread your massage of change. the People are the power behind any Revolution so you will need the support of the people before any action. Terrorism would alienate the people from your revolution and might turn it into a civil war. I say use open war if non-violent action fails.

Non violent means are the best, it can be exceptionally frustrating but it's true. If people hear news about the police killing peaceful protesters, or killing armed revolutionaries the reactions will be very different. This is not to say that we should be passive, be aggressive and active. And as much as I detest police, they are people with family's.

Prior to a revolution we would need to educate each other, teach everyone to be leaders. Any governments first plan of action is to attempt to squall rebellions and then try to take out it's leaders. We would have to use a series of terrorist attacks followed by guerrilla warfare. Any militant leftist group, however nonviolent, would be met with extreme prejudice, and the government would use force against it. If we want to survive that, we need to skip the nonviolent measures and go straight to ceasing the government for the working class.
