Does anybody else hate how these anti-Semitic racists use the name of the BPP? If you don't know what I mean read this Members have referred to "bloodsucking Jews", and Khalid Abdul Muhammad has blamed slavery and even the Holocaust on the "hooked-nose, bagel-eating, lox-eating, perpetrating-a-fraud, so-called Jew"
Yes I do, and the Huey P. Newton foundation came out and said "there is no new BPP" and said that the real BPP never stood for racism of any kind. The new bpp mainly uses racism to recruit
Awful organisation and its terrible that they use the name black panther. There are several other panther organisations around trying to carry on the BPP's legacy. Unfortunately NBPP is the biggest,, but i think the NABPP is the best and would definitely try to get involved with them if i was in america. in fact ill make a new thread about htem
Met them many times, it was sadly never pleasant. They usually try to hijack working class struggles with their bullhorns and loud uniforms and try to make it about them - even events focused on Troy Davis. They show up, announce themselves, stand around and leave. That said, different branches behave different ways, and some have participated in united front work, such as police brutality. But yes, keep them at arm's length. They openly admit to being strong nationalists, at this point consider them a tactful de-facto ally in certain issues.
How do we respond to these guys? Can we try to reason with 'em? Can we reject them without looking like we're attacking Black Liberation?
I've never directly talked to an NBPP supporter/member about it, but it shouldnt be difficult to make it clear that our criticism is from a pro-black-liberation perspective, especially if we emphasise the fact that our main problem is the the nbpp deviates from the scientific socialism of the original BPP.
How do we respond to these guys? Can we try to reason with 'em? Can we reject them without looking like we're attacking Black Liberation? I have wondered this myself. I think we can reject them for being segregationist and antisemitic. Just ask them outright. "are you for segregation, are you opposed to integration?" Being black doesn't permit you to be racist or pro segregation.
Now you guys know how hippies fell like John Lennon. Many had very left wing sympathies (Anarchism, Orthodox Socialism, etc) and then people came along calling themselves leftists who were violent and authoritarian (Stalin, Mao, etc).
