Oppinions on Wikipedia

I personally like this site, and I sometimes contribute to it.
The whole wiki system Wikipedia works on looks actually very socialist to me almost a kind of utopian socialism.
Unlike Technocracy it does not enforce the meritocratic system, but the community respects it.

I, myself, believe it's one of the most useful sites on the internet. I want to know what my fellow technocrats' opinion is.

    Thanks!

I like wikipedia, but the articles on Technocracy are all completely worthless.

Wikipedia does not really need to be meritocratic, since we are just talking about information, not skills.

Many studies have been done showing wikipedia to be just as reliable as any other encyclopedia. The problem is that people fail to use the sources cited by an article and just cite the article itself, which infuriates professors.

People also fail to pay attention to notices like "This article is incomplete" or "The accuracy of this article is disputed"

Wikipedia is okay if I'm writing some stupid paper and happen to be too lazy to do my own research.

That's merely because people do not know the conventions of Wikipedia. I have personally seen people who don't even know how it works.

    Otherwise, I support the project.

I think Technocrat pretty much nailed it.

I'd also like to add that such projects are very good for people with an enthusiasm for the subject at hand, but who lack the skills or formal qualifications to actually do applied research on it.
