The lyrics are inbedded in the song. It is a completely brilliant hymn. Colony 5 - Future Tragedies and suffering I hear them scream screaming for help The prophets preach the end of the world only fools believe their words No truth without evidence its easy to lie who can seek the answers who can see through the sky Such a great temptation who can carry such a quest and gain that information we dont need no god We dont need no god no more We dont need a tyrant We want to love we want to breathe we want to be Rebuild the world with the knowledge we retrieve We want to feel we want to live we want to see seek the wisdom from the future and believe
awesome, I got full version of it, anyone want it can pm me their full address on Windows Live.
Yes, it's a shame that it is so unknown on youtube that only a short version of it is available.
Awesome song. I take it the people who did it are transhumanists?
Colony 5 are transhumanists. They have also done a song called "Synchronised Hearts".
Another great song by Colony 5: Science Science, eternal life, clones replacing each other on a line. Who are you, deceiving nature? Who are you? You're not a god! An enhanced gene pool, perfection in the bin No need for schools, he who dares wins We have turned biology into technology We have the factory but not the entire recipe Breeding humans; mutants for special needs. A perfect DNA, a killing machine. Superior species, developed for special needs. A nature in chaos, science or madness we fail to see (the difference) White coated hubris, creating life No first kiss, you construct your own wife Who are you, eluding nature? Who are you? You’re the modern God!
That seems to be quite an anti-science song by the look of it. All the usual accusations of playing God/aiming to replace God etc. I find that sort of criticism of science not only tiresome but also a strawman. Science is about understanding the universe, not becoming God or ultimate control, even though science may help such goals.
You must have misunderstood the message of the song. I don't interpret it as anti-science at all. How could it even be, these guys are transhumanists? All the usual accusations of playing God/aiming to replace God etc. But they aren't presented as accusations in this song. These guys have nothing against 'playing god', they actually advocate it. So they are merely using the bioconservative crowds own rhetoric against them.
I suppose you're right, but the bit about "white coated hubris" really jumps out at me - the word "hubris" denotes prideful overconfidence with a distinct lack of caution and humility in combination with a lack of knowledge, which can't be a good thing. Scientists are often depicted in popular culture as being socially awkward white-coated eggheads who's "meddling" can be disastrous. I guess I've just seen far too little positive scientific role models, and the language used reminded me of that.
Sounds like a good song.
