Thanks for making this group. The historical memory of many on the left is pathetically short, and the ignorance and total lack of perspective of the Eurocentric worldview keeps these types from realizing the central role of colonialism and imperialism in the development of capitalism and the modern world as we know it.

That map you posted of the partition of Africa should be cause for reflection. There isn't a single society on this planet that hasn't been completely reshaped by imperialism, and any understanding of capitalism that doesn't account for its actual historical development as a global system is worthless.

You're welcome. Also, I agree that we cannot theorize on capitalism without first acknowledging the devastation caused by imperialism.

Although it is true that Marxist theory was invented by Europeans and that the ideology of Marxism arose out the material conditions caused by Europe's Industrial Revolution, since the end of World War II it has been primarily non-Europeans(Chinese, Vietnamese, Laotians, Cubans, Angolans, Nicaraguans, Burkinabe, Venezuelans, Bolivians, Nepalese), who have been doing nearly all of the fighting and dying and real sacrifice for the cause of socialism, and thus have been the only ones producing anything useful regarding Marxist practice as opposed to theorizing endlessly in college seminars.
It exasperates me to no end that so many leftists see nothing of worth coming from those struggles, either because they are 'Stalinist'(because they turned to the Soviet Union for support against imperialism), or 'petty bourgeois nationalist'(easy to say when you are not living under colonial rule). It is a product of First World leftists being disconnected from class struggle for many decades, in addition to revolutionary penis-envy mixed in with racism.
